OVERVIEW
Chronic Pain Plasticity and Therapeutic Perspectives is organized by Neuroscience School of Advanced Studies (NSAS) and would be held during May 13 - 20, 2017 at Certosa di Pontignano, Siena, Tuscany, Italy.
• Definition of chronic pain and usual pain terms (allodynia, hyperalgesia etc.)
• Classification of major chronic pain syndromes (neuropathic, nociceptive/inflammatory, dysfunctional). Specific issues related to the diagnosis and characterization of chronic pain, in particular in patients with complex mixed pain syndromes (e.g. chronic lumbar radicular pain, cancer pain) will be addressed.
• Epidemiology of chronic pain in the general population and its impact and burden for both the patient and the health system.
