OVERVIEW

California Society of Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery CalDerm Symposium is organized by CalDerm - California Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery and would be held during Sep 15 - 17, 2017 at The Fess Parker A Doubletree by Hilton Resort, Santa Barbara, California, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 16.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Conference Objectives:
General Dermatology:
• Examine current literature in general and surgical dermatology and implement evidence-based methods to improve patient care.
• Discuss Medicare delivery systems and payment reform as they relate to the practice of dermatology.
• Refine communication and patient education tools to better address non-English-speaking populations.
• Recall key elements of aging facial anatomy for both medical and cosmetic treatments to ensure patient safety and maximize outcomes.
• Summarize the relationship between “mind and skin” in the clinical presentations of common psychodermatologic diseases.
• Analyze the medico-legal aspects of teledermatology and the impact on direct patient care.
• Examine both approved and novel biologic therapies for optimal management of patients with psoriasis.
• Describe disease management considerations for vitiligo, both cutaneous and systemic.
• Identify key characteristics, and potential mimickers, of the pathology of specific dermatologic diseases.
• Summarize treatment options and research advancements for squamous cell carcinoma.
• Examine recent and potential changes in the health care environment and how to incorporate those into practice.
Pediatric & Special Populations:
• Interpret hepatitis screening data as they relate to dermatologic symptoms and complications of chronic disease.
• Demonstrate an understanding of rheumatic diseases and how dermatology and rheumatology disciplines can collaborate on effective patient care plans.
• Explain the recommended strategies and clinical challenges for managing select cutaneous conditions in the pediatric population.
Surgical:
• Review recent updates to the most common surgical techniques for dermatologic procedures.
• Summarize the indications and safety considerations for available laser procedures.
• Analyze the potential health risks of electrosurgical smoke and the safety precautions recommended to mitigate those risks.
Cosmetic:
• Discuss practical strategies for optimizing outcomes with topical cosmeceuticals.
• Review evidence-based approaches in cosmetic dermatology related to both injectable and energy-based treatment options.
