Course Description:
This interactive and practical seminar will update your clinical nursing assessment skills to support optimal outcomes and best-practice nursing care. Improve your primary and secondary assessment skills, learn how to select the right assessment tool and ensure you’re documenting your assessment findings correctly. Review the normal anatomy, physiology and common disease states associated with the following systems:
• Neurological system, including the patient with a head injury
• Respiratory system and advanced assessment, including the use of chest x-ray
• Cardiovascular system, including the patient with chest pain
• Gastrointestinal and abdominal assessment
• Musculoskeletal system, including a pain assessment
• A fundamental update for all nurses. Attend this two-day seminar if you have not had formal education on this topic in the past 12 months.

The purpose of this seminar is to offer all nurses an opportunity to update their general clinical assessment skills. A particular focus is on major body systems and common or challenging presentations. Participants will be encouraged to engage in and initiate discussion on case scenarios and clinical experiences. By encouraging nurses to reflect on past situations this seminar will assist in developing their clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills, immediately assisting them to apply knowledge gained to their practice and improve patient outcomes.

Conference Objectives are :
• Prepare a person physically and psychosocially to improve patient comfort during an assessment, including selection of the most appropriate assessment tool
• Revise the anatomy and physiology of all body systems covered and review common symptoms of diseases
• Correlate clinical assessment findings with pathophysiological processes occurring across a range of body systems
• Document findings and apply a range of appropriate and timely evidence-based nursing interventions to a patient following a comprehensive assessment
