OVERVIEW
AOCMF Symposium - Advances in Orthognathic Planning and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Surgery (pre-ICOMS) is organized by AO Foundation and would be held on Mar 30, 2017 at Prince Philip Dental Hospital, Sai Ying pun, Hong Kong, China.The target audience for this medical event are Enrollment is open to specialists and residents in oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and orthodontists.
The course is comprised of two parts: orthognathic planning and surgery to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).Orthognathic surgery planning is the key of success in treating patients with dentofacial deformities. Detailed customized planning is required in each case to address a wide spectrum of patients with various kinds of dentofacial deformities to achieve good functional and aesthetic outcomes.
OSA has received increasing attention due to its serious morbidities and implications to quality of life of patients. Craniomaxillofacial surgeons have a unique role in treating this prevalent and emerging condition.Surgical treatment may offer a permanent cure to OSA patients and can prevent the development of subsequent morbidities.
An understanding of the principles and practices, combined with knowledge of recent advances in surgical techniques and technology help the clinicians effectively treat challenging cases.A multi-disciplinary approach consisting of non-surgical and surgical modalities have been advocated in the treatment of OSA.
This course includes a series of lectures and case-based discussions on treatment planning for orthognathic surgeries, various treatment modalities, surgical techniques, and treatment of OSA. The lectures are presented by distinguished international, regional, and local faculty. World-renowned speakers will present cutting edge knowledge of conventional and digitalized computerized orthognathic planning as well as the tips to achieve improved outcomes.
Objectives:
• Explain the principles in treating patients presented with various dentofacial deformities for aesthetic and functional improvement
• Describe the current advances for planning orthognathic surgeries
• Appreciate the multidisciplinary approaches to management of obstructive sleep apnea
• Formulate treatment plans for patients with sleep apnea based on severity.
