Annual Symposium of the Indian Biophysical Society (IBS) 2017

Annual Symposium of the Indian Biophysical Society (IBS) 2017 is organized by Indian Institute of Science Education and research (IISER) Mohali, Indian Biophysical Society (IBS), Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) and would be held during Mar 22 - 25, 2017 at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research - Mohali, Mohali, Punjab, India.

Dear faculty colleagues, pre-doctoral, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, and participants from industry,I am delighted to let you know that the website for the upcoming annual symposium of the Indian Biophysical Society (March, 2017) is now up and running.

This website will be dynamically updated in a periodic fashion, with information about speakers, sponsors and other details, as the weeks roll by. The main symposium will consist of invited lectures (~30-35) put together by the scientific program committee, the GN Ramachandran memorial lecture, displayed posters (~250-300) and some short lectures (~5-6) selected from amongst the poster abstracts for oral presentations. They will be able to have a maximum attendance at the meeting of about 450 participants from academic research and industry.

Throughout the meeting, there will also be exhibits put up by participants from industry (i.e., leading companies manufacturing equipment, or reagents, for research in biophysics and biochemistry), showcasing latest technologies and products.

Meanwhile, all systems are in place for those who are interested in attending the upcoming 2017 meeting to register online through this website, and also to look up the information presented here, about the venue, the city and other aspects that you might have some queries about. Contact numbers for inquiries are provided.

Please note that you can register for the meeting(s) regardless of whether you are submitting an abstract. Also, you can register regardless of whether you are a member of the Indian Biophysical Society. There is also an option for symposium-organized accommodation, if you do not wish to organize your own.

This meeting is open to all who are interested in biophysics; in either learning about ongoing research (main symposium) or about the latest technical and instrumentation-related aspects of biophysics (one-day lecture series)!

Of course, we would welcome your becoming a life member of the IBS (membership fee Rs. 1000/-), before, during or after the meeting, should you wish to become a member.

Further, please note that you can register separately for the one-day corporate lecture series on 22nd March, and for the main symposium ( 23rd - 25th March, 2017), depending on your preferences. They hope that most of you will register for both the events! Their reason for having separate registrations is that we hope that many students from the neighborhood(s) of Chandigarh and Delhi will register for the one-day corporate lecture series on 22nd March even if they don't register for the main symposium, as it promises to be a very educative experience. Students attending the main symposium are highly encouraged to also register for the one-day lecture series.
