This half-day symposium will focus on the medical management of common and important challenges facing health professionals who care for breast cancer patients. The multispecialty educational approach allows participants to explore new diagnoses and cutting-edge treatment options for various areas of breast cancer patient care in a concise symposium format.
Conference Objectives :
• Upon completion of this symposium, participants should be better able to:
• Create an understanding of the rational for this new treatment modality.
• List physical and dosimetric advantages.
• Differentiate integrative versus alternative use of healing modalities.
• Discuss the difference with traditional versus evidence-based acupuncture.
• Identify the concerns of undocumented and unsupervised use of supplements.
• Discuss controversies in current breast cancer treatment options.
• Assess future challenges in the management of breast cancer.
• Explain the biological rationale behind dose-dense chemotherapy.
• Summarize cumulative data in support of dose-dense chemotherapy.

• Identify nipple-sparing procedures in appropriate candidates.
• Apply the use of stacked flaps and expanded flaps for low BMI patients wanting autologous reconstructions.
• Discuss the prevalence, phenomenology, risk factors and course of cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI).
• Implement management and prevention strategies for CRCI.
• Explain the pathophysiology of CRCI.
