Conference Objectives :
• Recognize the complexity and differences in clinical presentation and risk factors among pediatric and adult stroke patients to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment
• Evaluate current practices in stroke imaging and treatment for pediatric and neonate patients presenting with suspected acute ischemic stroke
• Describe cooling techniques and best practices for managing neonatal and pediatric patients with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)
• Explore recent trends in the use of Transcranial Doppler (TCD) as a screening protocol for identifying pediatric patients with Sickle Cell Anemia at greatest risk of stroke
• Describe diagnostic workup for suspected Moyamoya and the surgical techniques available to treat this rare disorder
• Develop a clinical approach to the recognition, evaluation and diagnosis of vasculitis and its underlying pathology
• Promptly evaluate pediatric patients presenting with spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) to avoid delays in the treatment of the underlying aneurysm
• Evaluate the indications, risks and benefits of radiosurgical, microsurgical and endovascular approaches to the treatment of pediatric cerebral AVMs
• Discuss the various screening and treatment approaches to genetic pediatric neurovascular disorders and spinal AVMs
• Balance the risk of surgery vs risk of no surgery on an individualized basis for pediatric patients with cavernous malformations
