9th Annual Joint Replacement Fellows Symposium is organized by Pfiedler Enterprises, Inc and would be held during Jan 27 - 29, 2017 at Vail Cascade Condominiums, Vail, Colorado, United States of America.
Overview :
This educational symposium is designed for the orthopaedic fellow who will soon be entering the practice setting. Setting up or joining a practice brings challenges to the junior partner. Experts who have been in various settings will present tips on starting a practice, working in an academic setting, building efficiency into a practice, avoiding malpractice situations, working with industry and being a successful junior partner. Content will also focus on the latest surgical approaches to primary and revision hip and knee surgery. Each Fellow will present cases for review and discussion with their colleagues and the experts. Video vignettes and round table discussions will provide insight into failures and successes related to surgical management of the total joint patient. This symposium is designed to be highly interactive and faculty will be accessible for consultation and discussion.
Objectives :
Upon completion of this symposium, the fellow should be able to :
• Differentiate practice settings and management philosophies which can be applied to a total joint practice.
• Discuss strategies to avoid malpractice situations which results in positive patient outcomes.
• Analyze case presentations in order to determine options and alternatives for treatment to avoid complications.
• Describe surgical management of pain, blood management, and prophylactic antibiotic therapy.
• Discuss the pros and cons of an anterior versus posterior approach to primary total hip arthroplasty.
• Describe challenges and surgical management in total hip and knee revision procedures.
