Description :
This Course is intended to increase the participants knowledge base in subject areas effecting physician and caregivers performance that could possibly impede patient care. Many physicians who know about burnout do not recognize the signs and symptoms of burnout nor the impact these have on delivering the best patient care. In addition, NESA 60 will discuss how physician bias in decision making can lead to non-optimal decisions. Understanding and recognizing this is the first step in learning how to provide better care through cooperative, team making decisions. Lastly, NESA 60 will explain how surgical home is developing and can address the demands of an increasing population of frail, elderly patients.
Discuss physician burnout and provide a survey of the reasons precipitating the problem, its impact on patient care, and how it can be approached by physicians, their departments and their institutions. Pursuant this discussion, the course will introduce a new discipline, performance coaching for practicing healthcare professionals.
