44th Annual Edward W. Hook, Jr. MD Recent Advances in Clinical Medicine is organized by University of Virginia and would be held during Oct 25 - 27, 2017 at Omni Hotel Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 24.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Conference objectives are :

• Initiate evaluation of both common symptom complexes and medical conditions encountered in primary care and hospital practice, utilizing evidence-based and state-of-the-art approaches
• Institute management of selected important diseases seen in the general adult population, employing up-todate and cost-effective strategies
• Recognize when specialty referral is indicated for certain medical conditions and have a basic understanding of the anticipated care to be provided by the consultant
• Counsel patients more effectively regarding the benefits, risks, and uncertainties in challenging clinical scenarios, such as whether to initiate or continue dialysis for end-stage renal disease
• Recognize and reduce factors contributing to physician burnout
• Practice judicious prescribing of opioids at safe doses with appropriate monitoring
• Discuss appropriate indications for placement of cardiac devices
• Implement a stream-lined functional assessment of geriatric primary care patients
• Recognize professional factors conducive to burnout and discuss strategies to ameliorate them
