Conference Objectives :
At the completion of this conference, neonatal clinicians will be able to:
• Examine the most current ways in which to ensure safety in neonatal pharmacotherapy, including antibiotic stewardship, guidance on therapeutic vancomycin levels, and proven methods to help reduce medication errors.
• Discuss nutrition for critically ill neonates, with a focus on the “golden” first week, new generation intravenous lipids and ways to optimize growth for infants receiving breast milk, both pre- and post-discharge.
• Assess and evaluate controversies surrounding the use of Avastin for ROP, medications used to treat NAS, PDA management and treatment of encephalopathy.
• Identify the effectiveness and role of interdisciplinary communication in your institution related to the pharmacologic management of the NICU patients in your care, and ways in which to improve it.
