OVERVIEW
Robotic Urologic Oncology is organized by UC San Diego School of Medicine and Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine and would be held during Oct 13 - 14, 2016 at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, La Jolla, California, United States of America. This CME conference has been approved with 11.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
This course is designed for both experienced and novice robotic surgeons. We will focus on procedural details of robotic urologic oncology while discussing topic controversies and new techniques to improve outcomes. The conference will feature extensive video instruction and a live surgery (robotic radical prostatectomy with nerve sparing and pelvic lymph node dissection). We will share the extensive knowledge and expertise of the course directors and faculty including step-by-step procedure instruction and standardized orders for postoperative care of common procedures.
OBJECTIVES :
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe the current risk stratification of prostate cancer patients including the most modern biomarkers and genomic tests.
• Describe the patient positioning, port placement and procedural steps for robotic radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical cystectomy and urinary diversion, extended pelvic lymph node dissection for prostate or bladder cancer and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for testicular cancer.
• Review the postoperative care pathways for the common urologic oncology procedures including reviewing order sets and medication dosing details for enhanced recovery pathways.
• Discuss current controversies and recommendations concerning the integration of neoadjuvant and adjuvant systemic therapies for urologic malignancies.
