EOS 2016 - European Obesity Summit

2016 European Obesity Summit has announced that in 2016 the congresses of EASO (ECO2016) and the IFSO European Chapter (2016 IFSO-EC Annual Congress) will merge to create the inaugural European Obesity Summit. This have been done in order to bring together colleagues from every area of obesity research, prevention and management. They will develop parallel programmes and joint sessions to ensure that delegates are given the opportunity to increase their knowledge and network with a diverse range of professionals.

Airport and Arrival Information:

Goteborg Landvetter Airport, western Sweden's international airport, is located about 20 km from Gothenburg. The Flygbuss airport coach connects the airport with the city centre in about 30 minutes. In the centre, there are bus stops at Korsvagen, Kungsportsplatsen, Nils's Ericson terminal and Park Aveny. At the airport, the buses are located directly outside the check-in hall.

Banks, Credit Cards and ATMs:

Banks are usually open from 08.30 – 16:30 (Monday – Friday) and closed during the weekends. Credit cards are accepted at many locations; however, you may find that small shops, kiosks, restaurants or coffee houses do not accept credit cards. In any case, ATM machines are plentiful and easy to use. Travel cheques can be cashed in most banks and exchange offices.

City of Gothenburg:

Gothenburg was founded in 1621 by Gustav Adolf II and has since undergone an exciting journey from being a shipping and industrial city to becoming a creative hub for innovation.

Climate:

Gothenburg has a much milder climate than most other regions in the north. The city's latitude insures that during the summer it receives several hours of sunlight per day, up to 20 hours in June, with the opposite taking place in the winter. Days during the month of December in Gothenburg may see as little as 3-4 hours of sunlight. The average temperature during the summer months in Gothenburg is in the mid 70's to low 80's, while the winter months average in the 20's. July through September also sees an increased amount of rainfall over the rest of the year.

Currency:

The monetary unit is the Swedish Krona (SEK). A number of exchange offices are located in central Gothenburg and at the airports. When you are exchanging your currency, you will need your passport or official ID card. If you do not have it with you, the bank may refuse to exchange your currency. Travellers’ cheques are generally accepted as payment throughout Sweden. Change will be given in Swedish Krona. Please note that a nominal fee is charged when using cheques as payment.
