OVERVIEW
This course is a one day learning opportunity for anesthesia providers with strong emphasis on small group learning and real time hands on practice of regional anesthesia blocks.
Learning Objectives
After participating in the workshop, the participant will be able to:
• Describe and discuss the principles of ultrasound.
• Detect critical structures that need to be avoided to improve patient safety in regional anesthesia.
• Discuss and practice needle insertion techniques for ultrasound guided nerve blocks.
• Employ ultrasound guided regional anesthesia skills to improve block success rate and patient satisfaction.
• Practice spine (neuraxial) imaging with ultrasound.
• Real time practice of ultrasound guided regional anesthesia blocks.
• Recognize and describe the sonoanatomy in normal patients.
• Recognize methods to identify complications of blocks with ultrasound.
