5th Annual Symposium of Asian Health

5th Annual Symposium of Asian Health is organized by University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and would be held during Aug 26 - 27, 2016 at UCSF Laurel Heights Campus, San Francisco, California, United States of America. The target audience for this medical event are basically for family and primary care physicians, internists, and specialists, as well as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers who face the unique health care needs and challenges of their Asian patients. This CME conference has been approved with a maximum of 12.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

The 5th Annual Asian Health Symposium will highlight specific areas for this unique community, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, integrative medicine, and infectious disease with special emphasis on the differences in Asian patients. This includes common cancer conditions of the head, neck, and prostate as well as cardiovascular issues including valve replacement, cholesterol metabolism, and stroke with an emphasis on access to care and outcomes.The course also features other important issues including precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, dermatologic conditions affecting Asians with thyroid disease, traditional herbal medicines, infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C, and controversies around the use of antibiotics.

Objectives :
• Name and plan to implement one policy change that impacts healthcare regarding physicians or Asian patients that is relevant to one’s own practice
• State one disease area common to Asian patients where pharmacogenomics can be used to personalize treatment for patients
• Implement risk factor reduction strategies for nasopharyngeal and other head and neck cancers in Asians
• Develop an effective strategy to decrease the persistent problems with under- screening and under-diagnosing
• Describe symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) relating to major diseases and treatments.
