16th Annual Symposium Selected Topics in Orthognathic Surgery is organized by AO North America and would be held on March 19, 2016 at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, District of Columbia, United States of America.The targeted audience for physicians,surgeons,dentists and residents in Oral and Maxillofacial, Otolaryngology - Head and Neck, Plastic Surgery and Orthodontics.
Orthognathic surgery seeks to correct maxillofacial deformities that are often associated with
signifi cant functional impairment. Procedures to alter the relationship of the jaws and teeth include
osteotomies of the maxilla, mandible and chin. A thorough understanding of the evolution of
orthognathic principles and practices, combined with knowledge of recent advances in surgical
technique and technology, helps the clinician more effectively treat challenging clinical problems.
Interdisciplinary treatment planning, backed by strategies to manage complications, are necessary
components of effective orthognathic surgery.
16th Annual Symposium Selected Topics in Orthognathic Surgery will focus on interdisciplinary problem solving in orthognathic surgery. Advanced technologies used to solve problems will be highlighted, as well as indications, planning, complications and perioperative considerations. Teaching methods include focused presentations and interdisciplinary discussions of controversial clinical issues.
