TOE for Non-Cardiac Surgery and Intensive Care

Ever since the introduction of Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TOE) in the cardiac operating theatres, its use has rapidly expanded to encompass other clinical settings. Once exclusively the remit of cardiologists and cardiac anaesthetists, TOE is now being increasingly used in the setting of intensive care, emergencies and non-cardiac surgery. The aim of this day, is to provide the delegate with an introduction to the fundamental principles that underpin the use of this technique, the indications and contraindications, how to perform a TOE examination, evaluation of the various cardiac structures and ventricular function. All the lectures will be video based tutorials featuring some very interesting real life cases.
