This course will describe three major accidents at power plants:
1. 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident
2. 2009 Sayano– Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station accident
3. 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant accident
The course will briefly describe the design of these power plants and causes of each accident as well as lessons learned and how these accidents could be prevented.
