Learning Objectives:
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound- both upper and lower extremity: glenohumeral and AC joints, subdeltoid bursa, rotator cuff, cubital canal, epicondyles, elbow joint, carpal canal, Gyon canal. Hip and knee joints, trochanteric complex, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, saphenous nerve, ischial bursa, saphenous nervetract, tarsal canal, ankle joint, plantar nerves.
Ultrasound in Regenerative medicine- History, Science behind Platelet Rich Plasma, basic technology and studies. Patient candidates, obtaining PRP, injecting, results (what to expect), post op instructions and care and post op issues.
Neurosonology-Entrapment Neuropathies of the extremities including suprascapular, radial, ulnar - cubital tunnel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, common peroneal nerve, tarsal tunnel syndrome and Morton’s neuroma. Other peripheral nerve injuries - traumatic, ischemic, metastatic, primary tumors and post-operative.
Spinal and Sympathetic Chain Ultrasonography Procedures - Limitations of spine sonography and ultrasound guided procedures. Ultrasound-assisted/guided neuroaxial injection, zygapophysial joint and nerve block, sacroiliac joint injections, piriformis, caudal injection; mapping of sacral foramina. Ultrasound guided blocks of the stellate ganglion, and superior hypogastric plexi. Other applications (lumbar sympathetic, celiac plexus and impar ganglion.
Structure of Course:This is structured as a two-day interactive learning experience that will include both didactic and hands on portions. Each participant will have the opportunity to work with each of our faculty members. We will be utilizing "live" models and cadavers during the learning experience.
