Minimally Invasive Exodontia and Alveolar Ridge Preservation: A Cadaver Course

Atrophy of alveolar ridges following tooth extraction is a common fact and can severely compromise the esthetic and functional rehabilitation of patients. Preservation of the alveolar ridge has become the standard of care and a necessity for the successful contemporary clinician. Minimally traumatic teeth extraction, biomaterials selection, and appropriate surgical technique application are key factors for successful treatment outcome. Numerous options of biomaterials and surgical techniques can be overwhelming for the clinician and can lead to improper clinical management.

This course is designed to teach the general dentist how to effectively and predictably maintain the dimensions of the alveolar ridge following tooth extractions. A unique feature of this course is the use of fresh frozen cadaver heads for practicing minimally traumatic exodontia with the most current instrumentation and surgical techniques for hard and soft tissue preservation following extractions. At the end of the course the participants should have the ability to correctly plan and effectively utilize various surgical extraction ridge preservation techniques.
