OVERVIEW
Learning Objectives
After completing this educational activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
1.Review the medical record and conduct an interview including medical/surgical history, diet history, and weight history to obtain evidence related to the etiology, presence, and degree of malnutrition.
2.Conduct a nutrition-focused physical examination to determine the loss of subcutaneous fat and/or muscle mass and the presence of possible micronutrient deficiencies and fluid accumulation.
3.Determine the etiology, presence, and degree of malnutrition using the Academy/ASPEN adult malnutrition guidelines.
