Innovation and Biomarkers in Cancer Drug Development

IBCD will shine a spotlight on multi-stakeholder approaches to cancer drug development with new cancer biomarkers in a scientific program which will include input from regulators, industry, and academia.

The amount and type of molecular and clinical data (Big Data) that can be generated is unprecedented. This fact raises challenges to identify associations between the various multi-dimensional data sets and clinical outcome as well as with regard to therapeutic decision making processes which need to be based on in depth understanding of underlying biology.

IBCD will address how all this impacts drug development and companion diagnostics with particular attention on biomarker validation, quality assurance and control, the limitations of genomic profiling, regulatory acceptance, interpretation of next generation sequencing results, challenges associated with immunological, functional and imaging biomarkers, as well as new challenges for statistics and bioinformatics.
