OVERVIEW
Recruitment and accrual are particularly challenging activities– whether it is identifying participants within your own institution or going out to the community. Even though finding these participants is absolutely critical to the success of the clinical research enterprise, its difficulty is often under-appreciated.
This course is not only about how to better communicate with potential participants, but also about beginning a critical reflection of your own skills and organizational practices to improve recruitment and retention with a focus on operational efficiency, cultural competency, and patient-centeredness. This course will:
- Strengthen your communication skills with potential participants
- Strengthen your advocacy skills to change organizational procedures and practices
- help you create a personal action plan on operational efficiency, cultural competency, and patient—centeredness related to clinical trials
This is a hands-on, highly participatory class—working in small groups throughout the day around real-world challenges. This course was developed in partnership with the Education Network to Advance Cancer Clinical Trials (ENACCT).
