Hospitals and medical groups across the country are reporting that PAs and NPs new to emergency medicine are not quite ready to practice in the ED environment.
New EMPAs and NPs are reporting that they are having difficulty getting hired because a minimum amount of experience is required of them to even be considered for employment.
To address this education and experience gap, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants (SEMPA) have created the EM Academy targeting advanced practice providers (APPs) and other medical professionals who treat urgent medical conditions to get the training they need to be "ready for the floor".
