On completion of this module participants should be able to: 1) Describe the surgical anatomy of commonly used free and pedicled flaps used in head and neck reconstruction. 2) Analyse and list the options available for reconstruction of the head and neck to provide the best functional and aesthetic reconstruction. 3) Perform, under supervision, commonly used pedicled and free flaps for head and neck reconstruction. 4) Perform fixation of composite free flaps for reconstruction of specific defects in the head and neck. 5) Describe the optimal reconstruction of defects of the head and neck using free flaps to provide the best functional and aesthetic result. 6) Explain the need for rehabilitation following successful reconstruction and outline the techniques involved to achieve this.
