British Association of Day Surgery Conference : Innovation and Quality in Day Surgery

This conference, which has been produced by the British Association of Day Surgery, will discuss how a quality service can be provided and evaluated at each stage of the patient’s pathway for a day surgery procedure.

Day Surgery rates have steadily improved nationally over the last decade and for many procedures day case management is now the norm. However, while the numbers of patients managed as a day case has steadily increased, the capacity of the facilities designed for day case surgery may not have increased in proportion. Consequently many patients are now being managed in areas that have not been designed specifically for day surgery patients, by teams of staff who may lack the expertise of staff based in dedicated day surgery facilities.
