Have you ever “missed” when administering local anesthesia? Would you like to add an additional injection to your arsenal of techniques? Are you lacking confidence in your ability to effectively administer local anesthesia or has it just been too long since you gave an injection? Through both lecture and hands on clinical lab, this course is designed as a review of local anesthesia for the practicing dentist and dental hygienist. You will review new local anesthetic agents and adjuncts and when they are appropriate to use.
This course will review theory of pain control, pharmacology of local anesthetics, selection of pain control modalities, anatomy, and techniques of both maxillary and mandibular anesthesia including the Variazani-Akinosi technique.
Participants will review injections on skulls for a “behind the scenes” look. After confidence is reinstated, participants will hone their skills while practicing on their patient partners. You will leave this course with a renewed sense of confidence.
