OVERVIEW
In 2014 the challenges facing vascular specialists have
never been greater. To assist in facing these challenges,
the UCSF Vascular Symposium offers an overview on the
impending health policy changes with initiation of the
Affordable Care Act as well expert commentary a wide
spectrum of vascular pathologies. This year the Symposium
will feature an update on changes planned in outcome
reporting, off-label device use and the impact of ACO’s.
There will be reviews on the treatment of patients with
peripheral occlusive lesions and both current treatment and
future directions of therapy for those with aneurysms of the
abdominal and thoracic aorta. Presentations will be given
regarding cerebrovascular disease management, venous
disorders and on dilemmas presented by patients requiring
hemodialysis access. Dr. Julie Freischlag, this year’s
President of the Society for Vascular Surgery, will give
the annual Binkley Lecture.
