OVERVIEW
The 2014 symposium "Transcriptional Regulation: Chromatin and RNA Polymerase II" will begin on Thursday, October 2 and conclude on Monday, October 6. The field of transcription biochemistry and molecular biology has become one with the field of chromatin biology and epigenetics; these two fields are basically inseparable. RNA polymerase II and its transcription machinery play an essential role in the modification and remodeling of chromatin; and chromatin plays a pivotal role in the regulation of gene expression by RNA polymerase II. Due to the completion of the sequencing of the genome of human and other organisms, the transcription/chromatin field has now entered the era of a post-genomic and global proteomic focus creating a new area of research to study. Given this fact, many established and new investigators have taken on the challenge of elucidating the molecular mechanisms of gene expression by RNA polymerase II and chromatin. This abstract-driven meeting will provide ample opportunities to interact and share findings in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere.
