OVERVIEW

Obstructive sleep apnea is common and, untreated, is associated with several adverse outcomes. Non-sleep specialists and primary care physicians as well as non-physician clinicians are increasingly required to assume a larger role in the management of these patients. This course provides the non-sleep specialist with the basic knowledge required to manage patients with OSA. Through lectures and workshops, each of you will be taken through the process of OSA management, including hands-on interaction with risk assessments, determining and interpreting diagnostic tests, and choosing the best treatment based on these data. Content from this course can be used as a framework to better understand the concepts presented in the more advanced Management of Sleep-Disordered Breathing course.
