The 21st Adavanced Techniques in Cervical Spine Decompression and Stabilization

The emphasis of this workshop is on surgical microanatomy and microdissection of the cervical spine. It will enhance the 3-D anatomical review of participants and sharpen their surgical skills of cervical decompression and stabilization techniques. Participants will:

1.Review and describe the intricate anatomy of the uncinated process, nerve roots, the vertebral artery and foramen

2.Identify the relationship of the above to each other

3.Review the techniques and perform under the guidance of experts, anterior and posterior surgical approaches to the cervical spine including:

4.Posterior decompression techniques including laminotomy, foraminotomy, laminoplasty, laminectomy, and facetectomy

5.Fusion techniques including occipital-cervical constructs, C1-2 transarticular fixation, subaxial wire and plating constructs

6.Anterior decompression techniques including discectomy, foraminitomy, corpectomy

7.Anterior fusion techniques including Smith-Robinson and strut grafting as well as subaxial plate, odontoid fixation and cages 8.Transoral approach to dens resection

Discuss surgical indications and complications management for the above procedures
