OVERVIEW

"Stroke remains the leading cause of adult disability and a common condition presenting to the hospital front door.
Its long-term impact on cognitive function is increasingly recognised.
Of interest to trainees, generalists as well as practitioners in the field of stroke medicine, this symposium, as well as providing updates on stroke diagnosis, prevention and treatment, will explore some of the more controversial aspects of stroke care and (not too) futuristic topics in functional recovery.
With the help of experts in their field, we will look at the accuracy of diagnosis and why that matters as well as the latest treatments both in hyperacute and acute stroke care.
We will explore the impact of small vessel disease and debate the place of intraarterial thrombolysis, hemicraniectomy, stenting and PFO closure.
We will also hear about the exciting progress both technological and biological, being made in neuro-rehabilitation. "
