RNA Silencing (A9)

Small regulatory RNAs have been implicated in virtually every developmental process and have key impacts on pathological pathways. Over the last 15 years, the field has rapidly discovered novel types of small RNAs and their associated silencing machineries in diverse species. Major gaps remain, however, in our understanding of the function and the molecular mechanisms of the diverse array of RNA silencing pathways. This meeting has been playing a central role in the field of small RNA silencing by mixing and synergizing expertise from diverse academic backgrounds. Since the beginning, it serves as an annual forum for researchers working on many different biological systems ranging from bacteria to plants and humans. The proposed 2014 meeting will adhere to this tradition and puts an additional emphasis on (1) translational research and therapeutics development and (2) emerging resources and technologies.
