North American Skull Base Society 24th Annual Meeting 2014 (NASBS 2014)

The theme of this year’s annual meeting will be “Skull Base: Defining Value-Based Care”. The Scientific Program Committee chaired by Ricardo Carrau, and co-chaired by James J. Evans, MD, Rick Friedman, MD, PhD, and Carl Snyderman, MD, MBA, have put together an outstanding scientific program. This year we will have 12 breakfast seminars, 20 concurrent sessions/panels, and daily plenary sessions that include keynote lectures, several symposia, round tables, debates, interactive tumor board, posters and proffered presentations. Featured guest speakers will include Ivo Janecka, MD, PhD, MBA, Sam Al-Mefty, MD and Piero Nicolai, MD. The keynote speaker will be David Dravecky, a major league baseball player whose career was cut short when a malignant desmoid tumor required the amputation of his left arm and shoulder. Together with his wife Jan, Dave founded the non-profit organization Endurance to help alleviate the suffering of others battling cancer. Dave will share with us how he personally endured through this tragedy and turned it into his life vision which I am sure will be inspirational. San Diego offers a spectacular venue this time of the year and I am sure will be enjoyable to all attendees and their families.
