Kidney Stones: Medical, Surgical and Dietary Approaches

Kidney stones present a complex challenge and unique opportunity to the health care provider. It offers the chance to intervene at a time of crisis and alleviate pain and suffering. At the same time, it opens the door to a long-term relationship aimed at engaging the patient in the prevention of future stone recurrence. This course will highlight advances in instrumentation and technique in endourologic procedures for stone disease. Participants will have the opportunity to develop and refine their skills in a hands-on simulation session. The course will also provide a critical assessment of laboratory evaluation and imaging utilization in kidney stone management. Lastly, it will place a strong focus on the dietary and pharmacological approaches to stone prevention.
