OVERVIEW

Our 11th Annual Symposium on Current Techniques in the Treatment of Cranial and Spinal Disorders will offer a series of innovative presentations regarding the latest advancements and treatment considerations in cranial, orthopedic and neurosurgical spine technology. Topics include neurosurgical trauma from a trauma surgeon’s perspective, concussions, intradiscal stem cells, SI-Joint fusions, chronic pain management, rhBMP-2 and the detrimental effect of marijuana use on traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.

Our panel of speakers included distinguished visiting professor Nicholas Boulis, MD. Dr. Boulis is a physician scientist whose research interests include biological neurorestoration and neuromodulation through the use of cell, protein and gene delivery to the nervous system. As an Associate Professor at the Emory School of Medicine and a practicing neurosurgical doctor at Emory Healthcare, Dr. Boulis leads a Gene and Cell Therapy Translational Laboratory which pursues advanced biological treatments for neurological disorders, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
