OVERVIEW
There is significant benefit to cross fertilization of knowledge and techniques between the Pediatric Orthopaedic and Neurological Spine surgeon disciplinesto facilitate more cooperation and coordinated care for children. Participants willbuild a better foundation to manage this complex patient population and develop a cooperative working relationship within the two disciplines. Topics for discussion include pediatric spinal deformity, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, cervical spine deformity, pediatric spinal cord management, advanced treatment options and new techniques. An internationally recognized Faculty with specific expertise in various aspects of Pediatric Spinal surgery will participate.
The case based format will include brief lectures, case presentations with expertfaculty, small group discussions, and a bioskills lab. Cases will illustrate specific problems, principles, or techniques in different areas of complex pediatric spine surgery including growing instrumentation, pedicle and transarticular screws, vertebral osteotomies and vertebral column resection
