OVERVIEW

The goal of the symposium is to bring together world-renowned scientists to present and discuss novel basic, translational and clinical research being conducted in the area of genomic medicine as it relates to cancer. Topics will include: broad based efforts to catalogue and understand genomic abnormalities in cancer and the role of comprehensive computational approaches in identifying the most meaningful of them; leveraging genomic science to go beyond into drug discovery and other omics; and the application of new found knowledge to the clinic to guide new clinical trials. Keynote speakers are Arul M. Chinnaiyan, MD, PhD (University of Michigan School of Medicine) and Gad Asher Getz, PhD (Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard). In addition, Mike Stratton, PhD (Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute) and Andrew Futreal, PhD (MD Anderson) will jointly receive the Ernst W. Bertner Memorial Award. Charles L. Sawyers, MD (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center) will receive the Heath Memorial Award. There will also be a poster session for participants to represent their findings.
