2nd Annual Bridge to Success: Acute Pediatric Care from the Emergency Department to the ICU

As new evidence evolves, the care of the acutely ill pediatric patient with a life threatening illness requires a coordinated, specialized practice that demands expertise and knowledge in treating children of all ages to ensure the best outcomes.

This conference is designed for practitioners who provide acute care for critically ill infants, children and adolescents. Most continuing education conferences focus only on pediatric care in either the emergency department or in the intensive care unit.This conference’s unique approach includes joint presentations by specialists in the pediatric emergency department and the intensive care unit to emphasize the coordination and continuum of care between the two locations.While practitioners may have expertise in their own setting and discipline, the knowledge of management and outcomes for critical pediatric illnesses in other settings may be less familiar. It is important to focus on the continuum of care in the two hospital areas and provide evidence-based updates on the evaluation and management of common life threatening pediatric illnesses. Providers in emergency medicine,both pediatric and adult, pediatric critical care medicine, primary care pediatrics, family medicine, and pediatric subspecialists who wish to receive a concentrated exposure to current evidence based knowledge about care of the acutely ill pediatric patient in both the emergency department and the intensive care unit are invited to participate in this activity.

As a result of participating in this conference, participants will be better able to describe evidence-based diagnosis and management options for improved care of critically ill pediatric patients, and communicate and collaborate more effectively with the medical team to further enhance patient care.

Attendees can participate in morning lectures and panel lunches over the 2.5 day conference. Optional participation with conference faculty in afternoon simulation and ultrasound workshops also is offered.
