OVERVIEW
ADEA presents the 2013 ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders program for junior faculty members. This three-and-a-half day program covers topics such as leadership styles, team building and time management that are essential to planning and implementing a successful academic career. The highly interactive program has been designed specifically to give faculty guidance, insight and skills to propel their career, and is suited for any junior faculty member, whether they recently joined their institution after a residency or after time spent in private practice. The programming includes onsite sessions led by preeminent experts in dental education, readings, assignments, and team-building exercises designed to maximize the professional development of junior faculty. Additionally, each participant is assigned to a peer-group that has the specific goals of helping its members implement the topics discussed, and how to deal with the pressures of being a new faculty member. These peer-groups are facilitated by leaders in dental education, who themselves are graduates of the AADS Summer Program or the ADEA Leadership Institute.
