2013 Accountable Care & Health IT Strategies Summit

New care delivery models including ACOs and PCMH continue to proliferate across the country spurred by private payers interest in coordinated care management and the introduction of the Medicare Shared Savings Program introduced by the Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act.

Since the Affordable Care Act was enacted in 2010, CMS has established 32 Pioneer ACOs and 106 Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) ACOs, this activity has been mirrored by commercial health insurers and provider organizations collaborating on ACO development, groups such as Aetna, United Health group and Blue Cross Blue Shield continuing to pursue performance based contracts across the country.
