Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Management Challenges Symposium 2016

IBD Management Challenges 2016 Symposium is a great opportunity to exchange and share the developing translational knowledgebase related to the diagnosis and management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The one day medical event is jointly organized by IBD Horizons & Global Education Group and is scheduled on 17th September 2016 at Seattle, Washington. The CME activity (6 CME Credits) is led by specialists, expert faculty in the field of gastroenterology and is open to physicians, researchers, healthcare professionals, nurse practitioners & physician assistants who would like to update themselves of the advancements and clinically relevant reviews pertaining to IBD.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), as the name suggests, is a chronic autoimmune digestive disorder that triggers inflammation in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, predominantly in the small intestine and colon. IBD can be majorly categorized into Crohn’s and Ulcerative colitis basing on the site of inflammation. The exact cause of IBD is still unknown, but a probable role of bacterial or viral agents on par with the environmental/ genetic factors contribute to the disease pathophysiology. It is believed that such infections prompt an immune response, which attack elements of one’s own digestive system- thus the inflammation. IBD can be very painful, disruptive, and in some cases, life threatening, affecting over 1.4 million Americans annually.

Diagnosis is generally by assessment of inflammatory markers, colonoscopy with biopsy of pathological lesions. There is currently no cure for this complex disorder. Treatment only aims to relieve symptoms and prevent them from re-occuring and includes administration of anti-inflammatory/ immune modifying drugs and Biologic therapies.

The impact of IBD on the society is disproportionately high, as the symptoms often occur at a young age and has the potential to cause lifelong ailment- both Physical and Psychological. Since our understanding of IBD is still far from complete, it is much essential and necessary to comprehend further, the pathophysiology, treatment options, psychological and surgical management of the affected individuals. The conference emphasizes on the above said areas as well as on the scientific, clinical and therapeutic advances related to the disorder.

The symposium takes place in one of the most creative, dynamic cities and during the best of its climatic conditions with sunny bright days and intermittent showers. Seattle, also known as The Emerald City/ The Jet City/ The Rain City, lies on several hills marked with amazing green landscapes and lakesides. The city harbors many recreation parks like The Chihuly Garden, The Glass Museum, EMP museum, The space needle and many more to venture. When still there, check for the amazing events like Sketch comedy festival, Nonstop entertainment, Mini maker fair, Edmonds art tour, Festival at Mt. Rainier etc. happening through 17th to 20th of September. This could be a destination that promises a combination of educational events and a holiday tourism as well, making it a memorable experience.
