Advanced Life Support (ALS) Course is organized by Clinical Skills Development Service (CSDS) and will be held on Nov 15, 2019 at Proserpine Hospital: Emergency Department, Proserpine, Queensland, Australia. Target audience : The course is designed for clinicians with experience or knowledge of ALS and for those requiring recertification. Course description The Advanced Life Support (ALS) course assesses participants on their ability to effectively manage an adult cardiac arrest situation in line with the ANZCOR guidelines. The course focuses on the application and assessment of ALS skills in a simulated environment. It is important to note that participants must arrive on time. Due to the assessment component of the course, late arrival in excess of 15 minutes may result in participants being turned away. The assessment includes: • Following the ANZCOR ALS algorithm utilising the crisis resource management principles in an immersive simulated environment. • Applying airway management skills. • Performing effective cardiac compressions. • Demonstrating safe use of a defibrillator. Practice advanced life support techniques and undertake the assessments in an immersive simulated environment. We will bring you up to speed on contemporary skills and best practice in managing cardiac emergencies including: • crisis resource management principles • manual defibrillation • cardioversion • transcutaneous pacing. Prerequisites : Completion of the core online learning (7 modules) with 100% pass mark on the multiple-choice quiz is a prerequisite to attend the face-to-face course.
