EMS Education - Paramedic Academy by McLaren Health Care is organized by McLaren Health Care and will be held on Aug 30, 2019 at McLaren Flint EMS Education, Flint, Michigan, United States of America. Course Description: The Paramedic Course is designed for any licensed or certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or EMT Specialist interested in becoming a Paramedic. Students who successfully complete one of these programs are eligible to take the National Registry examination process required for state licensure. The Paramedic course teaches anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, advanced airway management, oxygen therapy, intravenous therapy, cardiology, pharmacology, and reinforces basic EMT skills. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) & Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) initial certifications are included in the tuition fee. A 252-hour internship is also part of the course. Enrollment Requirements: Completed Basic EMT course - eligible for licensure. High School diploma or G.E.D. No Criminal history. Classes are held one day a week on Friday 9am-4pm with some content also online. Immunization Status (required prior to starting clinical shifts): • Shot records or current blood titers. • proof of Tetanus and Diphtheria immunization • MMRV immunization • Proof of Rubeola (Hard or American measles) immunization • Proof of Mumps immunization • Proof of Rubella (German measles) immunization • Positive history of Varicella Zoster (Chicken pox) or proof of immunization • Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccine • Proof of Poliovirus immunization • Students may use signed waiver for:(but are subject to different clinical contact protocols) • Religious Reasons • Medical Reasons with Doctor's Record • Philosophical Reasons • Current negative PPD-T or Chest X-Ray (Tuberculosis/TB test) Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
