Target Audience: Ophthalmology, Optometry Overview: Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of global blindness, affecting nearly 3 million Americans. In the past decade, new advances in diagnostic, medical, and surgical treatments have led to greater patient awareness and demand for increased quality of care. This course is designed to educate clinicians regarding innovative techniques to improve care to patients afflicted with this disease. Objectives: • Recognize strategies for how to medically manage complex glaucoma patients • Evaluate the nerve fiber layer using optical coherence tomography • Review the new class of glaucoma medications, Rho Kinase inhibitors • Differentiate between glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmic vision loss • Discuss the new landscape of micro-invasive glaucoma surgeries.
