Health Behaviour Change and Psychosocial Support in Cardiovascular Disease is organized by British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) and will be held from Nov 08 - 09, 2019 at George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton, England, United Kingdom. Description: This two day course aims to explore psychological issues that are relevant to cardiac rehabilitation and, using an evidence-based approach, apply a psychological perspective to the design and delivery of programmes. It has a practical emphasis and aims to assist health professionals to gain an understanding of how psychological principles could be incorporated into future service developments. It is interactive and draws directly from delegates’ own experience in cardiac rehabilitation. There is a strong emphasis on exploring the ways in which psychological factors (a) impact upon a person’s response to their cardiac event and (b) underpin processes of health behaviour change that can lead to cardiac risk factor reduction. The course is open to all health professionals working with cardiac patients in either a primary or secondary health care setting (e.g. physiotherapists; specialist nurses [i.e. cardiac rehabilitation, heart failure, diabetes]; primary care and community nurses; occupational therapists etc). Instructors with the BACPR exercise instructor qualification working in Phase III may also find this course useful as it may help develop clinical knowledge and understanding. Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
