Zhuoli Zhang is the professor and director of the Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Department, Peking University First Hospital, Beijing, China. She has been qualified as a rheumatologist since 1991. She is also currently working as the vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Chinese Rheumatology Association. Her major research interests are pathogenesis and clinical features of lupus as well as inflammatory arthritis.

​Prof. Dr. Zhuoli Zhang qualified with a doctorate degree in medicine from the School of Medicine, Peking University in 1991. After junior posts in general medicine at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, she spent 4 years and finally received her Ph.D. in 1999. She practiced as a rheumatologist at Peking Union Medical College Hospital for 17 years. She ever worked as a clinical research fellow at Imperial College, London, and as a registered rheumatologist in the Netherlands for four years. Her major research interests include the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of rheumatic diseases, as well as the application of ultrasound in rheumatology. Prof. Zhang has started to promote and organize the nationwide musculoskeletal ultrasound course since 2010. By the end of 2016, 21 courses have been completed and nearly a thousand Chinese rheumatologists have received the training. In 2013, Prof. Zhang edited and published the first book about musculoskeletal ultrasound in China . She is also the author of over two hundred scientific publications.
