Biography :

Dr. William K. Mallon got his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and went on to medical school at the University of Massachusetts. From there he went on to the University of Southern California and upon EM residency completion he joined the faculty there. As faculty at USC, Dr. Mallon won numerous teaching awards and was the EM Residency program for a decade (earning the AAEM “Program Director of the Year Award” and successfully developed new curriculum elements and strengthening the program into one the nations’ best (Doximity #1). Dr. Mallon was instrumental in recruiting Mel Herbert MD, Stuart Swadron MD, Diku Mandavia MD, and Maureen McCoullough MD to the program creating a GME powerhouse. Dr. Mallon has won the prestigious ACEP “Outstanding Contribution to Education Award” which has been given to fewer than 40 Emergency Physicians in the history of Emergency Medicine!

After running the EM Residency for a decade, increasing research output and academic performance, Dr. Mallon went on to fellowship development and created and funded three fellowship programs: International EM Fellowship, EM Administration Fellowship, and the Cal/ACEP Legislative Advocacy Fellowship, all of which are still successfully training leaders for post-residency careers. As Dr. Mallon developed increasing focus on international work he received a Fulbright Grant to Iceland, and launched a longitudinal EM development program in Chile.
