Dr. Wendy Stock is a leading hematologist and expert on leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes at The University of Chicago Medicine. She was an integral part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary research team that received a coveted Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) grant from LLS. Her work centers on trying to understand the molecular changes that result in the development of leukemia and how this information can be used to design clinical trials to improve treatment.
Today, Dr. Stock leads the Chicago site of LLS’s Beat AML Master Clinical Trial, a groundbreaking, collaborative precision medicine clinical study testing investigational therapies for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). “I love working with patients, who teach me so much about courage, generosity and grace. They are the motivation for my research,” Dr. Stock says. Dr. Stock is proud to be a woman in science because “it’s an extremely exciting time in the world of leukemia.” She is particularly excited about new treatment approaches that are emerging in light of the growing availability of new molecular genetic information.
