Timothy Farrell, MD, AGSF is Professor of Medicine and Geriatrics Division Associate Chief for Age-Friendly Care at the University of Utah School of Medicine, and a Physician Investigator at the VA Salt Lake City Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center. He received his A.B. from Dartmouth College and his M.D. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, followed by family medicine residency and geriatric medicine training at Brown University. Dr. Farrell's academic interests include transitions of care, medical ethics, medical editing, geriatrics education, interprofessional education (IPE), and caregiving.

He is a previous recipient of an HRSA Geriatric Academic Career Award (GACA) and currently serves as a co-investigator on the University of Utah Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP). With HRSA support, he developed the Geriatric Transitions Objective Structured Video Examination (GT-OSVE), an online care transitions teaching and assessment tool for individuals and interprofessional teams used by medical educators in the US and internationally. Dr. Farrell also serves as Chair of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Ethics Committee, as Co-Chair of the AGS Care Transitions and Tideswell Leaders in Aging Special Interest Groups, as a Fellow of the University of Utah Academy of Health Science Educators, and as a member of the AGS Geriatrics Review Syllabus, Journal for Healthcare Quality, and Gerontology editorial boards. In 2016, Dr. Farrell was named Director of the University of Utah Health Interprofessional Education (IPE) Program.
